STATEMENT FROM HEIDI TOSINI, BTA PRESIDENT
Good afternoon Bitterroot Tennis Community,
The Bitterroot Tennis Association Board has canceled the BMO Tournament this year.
Due to the low number of people registered, we are unable to sustain a proper competition as well as cover the financial costs to keep the association healthy.
We appreciate those who desired to travel from Missoula and elsewhere to play and support our tennis community. Unfortunately, the lack of interest either to play, inhibited by the smokey weather, or conflict with scheduling, begs the question of where to go from here.
The Bitterroot Memorial Open has been the event that we remember our fellow tennis friends who have passed. Many of our friends ago were outstanding players as well as people who gave of their time and generous in keeping a happy, healthy, fun sport in play.
Thank you for your understanding and our hope is that folks will come out and volunteer that we may continue as an association and an integral part of this valley.
Tennis is a life sport and typically a privileged sport. For others less fortunate, a lifeline that may elevate a child to greater opportunities. Let’s keep tennis accessible, affordable, and alive in our community.
In memory of our friends and why we play.
Bitterroot Tennis Association President
